The Lane Liner panel consists of six forms. The first four visualise the various settings of the Lane Liner. The fifth form shows the diagnostic messages received during the last connection with the Lane Liner. The last form contains miscellaneous information. In each form, the bottom line has the same buttons. Use the form popup (bottom left) to select another form. The 'Read' button will read all settings and diagnostic messages from the Lane Liner. The 'Write' button will write all settings in all forms into the Lane Liner.

On this form, the 'Oil Pattern' form, all settings related to the oil pattern along the lane are shown. The oil pattern along the lane starts with a constant thickness ('Initial Oil Thickness'). At a certain point ('Initial Distance'), the oil pattern will gradually decrease as the Lane Liner accelerates to its final speed, which is reached at the 'Total Distance'.

This form, the 'Tape' form, shows the oil pattern as measured across the lane. This tape is measured once, at installation, with the Lane Reader program and stored in the Lane Liner. Based on this tape, the Lane Liner can convert each given oil thickness setting into a value for the speed along the lane. When connected, the Palm Panel will read the tape from the Lane Liner and visualize the current thickness setting.

On this form, the 'Short Run' form, the settings related to the short run program are shown. Short run is used to oil the first few feet of the lane, when there is not enough time to perform a complete conditioning session. The Lane Liner can spray both sides, or only the left or right side of the lane. Note that the lane is not stripped prior to conditioning; the oil is sprayed on top of the oil already on the lane.

The 'Stripper' form shows all settings related to the stripping. When stripping and oiling are not combined, the treatment can be set to 'Clean' (lower speed), 'Default', or 'Quick' (less clean). When stripping and oiling are combined, the full treatment of the lane will take less than a minute. Even then, the quality of stripping is high, because the speed along the lane is lowest where the oil thickness is highest, and vice versa. Optionally, the pins can be wiped before stripping the pin deck. This prevents the pins from becoming wet.

If a defect is detected, the error indicator on the Lane Liner will light up or flash. After connecting the Palm Panel, the problem will be shown in this form, the 'Diagnostics' form. All detected defects are indicated together with the remedy.

The 'Options' form shows various data of the Lane Liner system. Each Lane Liner has a unique number (the 'system identifier') which is shown here. Also shown are the system type, and the version of the EPROM inside the Lane Liner. Finally, it is possible to choose the preferred unit of length: feet or meters. |
